The actual process, start to finish
Every piece begins as raw porcelain clay, hand-shaped before it's dried. Once dry, it goes into the kiln for its first firing, which hardens the clay into bisque — still unpainted, still unglazed. From there, each piece is hand-painted with the design, then fired a second time to set the glaze and colour. Finally, the 22K gold lustre is painted on and fired a third time, fusing the gold permanently into the surface. Three separate kiln firings, with hand-painting between each one.
Why it can't really be rushed
Each firing takes real time in the kiln, plus cooling time before the piece can be safely handled again. Skip a firing or rush the cooling, and pieces can crack, or the glaze and gold won't set properly. This isn't a process you can compress by working faster — the clay and the kiln set the pace, not the maker.
So what does that mean for your order?
