Hi, I’m Bita, the artist and maker behind BitaJewells.
Before becoming a full-time ceramic artist, I spent nearly 20 years working in engineering. But making things with my hands has been part of who I am for as long as I can remember.
I explored many forms of art over the years. Then I found clay — or perhaps clay found me. I fell in love with the process, the material, and the beautiful unpredictability of porcelain. Four years later, what began as a creative discovery has become my full-time practice.
Today, from my studio in Ottawa, I create small-batch porcelain jewelry by hand, bringing together the precision of my technical background with a lifelong love of art. Each piece is shaped, illustrated, glazed, kiln-fired, and often finished with hand-painted 22K gold lustre.
BitaJewells is where those two sides of me finally meet: precision and imagination, transformed into something you can wear.
The Art of Triple Kiln-Firing
From soft clay to glazed porcelain with a touch of real gold.
Porcelain Shaping
Fine porcelain clay is rolled or sculpted into small hearts, birds, tiles, and other playful forms.
Painting & Bisque Firing
Underglaze designs are painted by hand before the first kiln firing transforms clay into ceramic.
Clear Glaze Firing
Clear glaze is applied and fired again, creating the finished glazed porcelain surface.
22K Gold Lustre
Real gold lustre is painted onto selected details and set through a dedicated third firing.

Preserving Your Porcelain & Gold
Porcelain Care
- High-fired porcelain is naturally durable, but care should be taken to avoid dropping or knocking against hard stone surfaces.
- Clean gently with a soft, dry cloth to protect the glossy glaze and hand-painted surface.
- Store individually in a dry pouch or soft lined jewelry box when not in use.
22K Gold & Findings Care
- Remove before swimming, showering, sleeping, or exercising to protect the gold-plated findings.
- Avoid direct contact with perfumes, hairsprays, lotions, and harsh household chemicals.
- Do not use abrasive liquid jewelry cleaners or rough polishing cloths directly over the genuine 22K gold lustre.
